Synopsis

In today’s world of YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, where entertainment comes in bite-sized chunks and everyone has the means to claim their 15 minutes of fame, what better way to show that live theatre is still relevant than with our Fifteen Minute Festival.
Participants are challenged to put on a short theatre piece lasting no more than 15 minutes and with no more than 4 players. This is not a competition, it’s a fun showpiece for what theatre can be all about, bringing in theatre groups and performers from all over the area.

After a very successful first year, we are bringing back our festival of short works (anything you like so long as it is 15 minutes or less). We’ve got a very interesting line up with a number of DDOS members having written material specifically for the event plus a few wandering minstrels joining in the fun from other companies.

  • Geraldine written by our very own James Carter in which a lady of a certain age appears at the Police station to turn herself in for some pretty serious crimes but things are not quite how they seem. With Jill Derbie, Kim Stevens, Linda Kelly & Jon Day
  • The Loft also by James and performed by himself as he takes us on a nostalgic look through the contents of his loft
  • Waterworks by Jacqui Rance and performed by the St Johns Playreading Group (aka Beginners Please) is a rehearsed reading with a serious eco theme with a few comedic flourishes
  • AJ & Barnezy, that well-known duo, Mark Barnes & Andy Johnson, present a couple of comedy poetic sketches and individually a batch of their (in)famous poetry
  • Goodness Gracious Me the classic Peter Sellers/Sofia Loren (or Rowan Atkinson/Pixie Lott, if you prefer) song/sketch performed by Ockley Players
  • A Frisson of Willow written & performed by Nick Jordan-Moss. A prose reading inspired by the classic tale Wind in the Willows
  • All the Residence Men written by Paul Smith & Class (classic sketch adapted by the group) performed Sheila Gray & Linden van Clute, featuring Simon Coppen-Gardner
  • The evening will be compered by Committee Chair, Simon Coppen-Gardner
So book your tickets now and come join the fun!
Running time: 2hrs including intermission
